Not That Straight

Biography

« the agression of oldskool hardcore combined with the melody of punkrock »
As a collective of punkrockkids who are really dedicated to the core, Not That straight always managed to ad a high dose of intensity and originality to the music they play. Started up in the mid nineties, the band evolved from the melodic punksound they showed on their first demotapes to the mature hardcorepunk they showed on their first and only full length ‘low profile’. One can’t deny but hearing a band that fits all pieces into one gigantic musical puzzle with the distinctive harsh, yet melodic, voice of lyricwriter Kris in the picture. Lyricwise, the band wrote about such varied themes as personal frustrations, anger driven stories and things that go wrong in this fucked up world. Live, this was guaranteed to result in a moving pit and a great crowd response. But at the end of 2001, the show was over. Founding member Stijn decided to stop with the band and longtime guitarplayer Sam also called his quits. The rest started searching for new members, but the flame wasn’t burning that bright anymore and in march of 2002, Not That Straight officially split up. Stijn is busy with another band, called the Murdocks, these days. Steven joined Victims of Society as a second guitarplayer and Kris is the lead vocalist for Officer Jones and his patrol Car problems. Not that Straight played their last show at the 2001 Funtime Festival…
