« emotional punk rock’n roll »
This great emo poppunk combo started out some years ago in the capitol of sugar. Tienen that is. They originally played fastforward melodic punkrock, inspired by bands like Millencolin, No Fun At All or early Adhesive. But as the band started playing tighter, they soon started exeperimenting with their bandsound, using piano parts and slowing down the highspeed melodic songs. Both vocalists Jasper and Wim became better in writing songs and using harmonic vocals, which resulted in the songs you can hear on their debut album ‘Happy inbetween or sad’. A collection of superb emo poppunk songs, leaning towards the tradition of all these great college rock indiebands. Or in other words : ‘great punkrock with superb emo- and collegerock influences, that will appeal to any Weezer or Get Up Kids fan’. Soon after the release of this debut cd, Oversized started playing more and more, opening for bands like for example Therapy ? and rocking out at various festivals like Suikerrock, Funtime Festival and many others.
In the autumn of 2003, the band entered Dé Studio in Asse to records the follow up album. A record that shows a band still evolving and working hard on the songwriting. The result is a record that is defenitely more rock(n’roll) orientated than their previous efforts. Incorporating influences from bands like the strokes, Hives, but still full of punkrock, emo and beautiful vocal harmonies. Right after the recording of this latest album, Oversized wins the famous Rockvonk contest, which gains them a lot of extra attention from both Belgian press and audience. Rock on !
