STUDIO STUFF ...new update

Last week, we've been spending some extra 'quality time' at the Sugarbeat studio in Bunsbeek to complete the recordings of our new -yet still untitled- album.
Some extra arrangements were put on tape, as well as some backing vocals done by Bert.
On thursday Annelies Tanghe (aka IZA) www.myspace.com/tangheannelies dropped by to do the vocals for the song 'From what rivers have to offer' and the result is just breathttaking! We really want to send a big hugh thank you to Annelies for the fabulous work.
Now we'll have to wait a couple of weeks to do the mixing at DéStudio in Asse.
From the 16th till the 18th of january, Dirk Miers will take care of the mix and then it's up to the mastering engineer to complete the job...we'll keep you up to date!
Cheers!!!!

SECOND STUDIO UPDATE

Here we are again with some small talk about the stuff we did in Dé Studio the last couple of days. On monday the lead vocals and scream of 3 songs have been recorded. And Tuesday started with tracking the instrumental parts of 3 other songs. Which went really smooth, so the late afternoon and most of wednesday was filled with the recordings of some extra guitar parts and arrangements. In the evening, the lead vocals and screams for two more songs were put on tape and then the first reco A more natural and a bit rougher sound.

Next up is two days at the Sugarbeat studio with Jimmy Turbo to record the vocals for two more songs, some backing vocals on all the songs and the arrangements (violins; piano, samples) for another song. On one of the two songs we're doing at the Sugrabeat studio, there's gonna be some guest vocalists...
But more about that later...

Thanx for reading and see you!

RECORDING THE NEW ALBUM - first update

24th of november - Dé studio - Asse
The third day in the studio and still hard at work:-)
The first day , we've spent mainly on putting up the backline, studio gear, mics and stuff, followed by hours and hours of soundchecking.
On saturday evening the first tunes were played to get the music going.
So far, we recorded the base of 3 songs and today we've recorded the vocals on those 3 songs. Melodic lead vocals as well as the screaming parts are finished. The backing vocals of all songs will be done later at the Sugarbeat Studio in Bunsbeek.
Tomorrow and wednesday, the other songs will be recorded, but now we're off to working again:)
See you!

November 22, 2008
We start recording today!

Today we start recording our brandnew, yet still untitled, album.
I guess we'll have to get some discussions started before we decide about a final album title, but first things first, so we're completely focused on the recordings now:-)

As a matter of fact, the next 5 days are the first part of the recordings. We've chosen to record everything live and all together , except for the vocals. We absolutely wanted to play it live all together, cause that's the best way to explore the dynamics, contrasts and 'highs and lows' of our music. At least that's what we think...time will prove if we were right:-)
Today is mainly 'soundcheck' day...put up all the gear, the mics, testing, exploring, testing...
First 'actual' recordings probably tonight and then the next couple of days...
We'll keep you up to date about it, so stay tuned (like they used to say on some certain music channel)...

Cheers!!!

Does the phrase "catching a breather" mean anything? For sure, we've taken one of those, haven't we?

Last update here was February ... feels like ages ago.

Well, after 15 years we thought we earned a little break away ... And I assume that having -twin daughters / -a little boy as a 4th offspring / -your knee ripped apart playing soccer / -traded dayjob for independent soundengineering/releasing albums/playing tons of shows with other bands, might have caused some of that also. In the end it's a good thing that we managed to divide these events amongst the four of us, might have gotten one of us killed. And it’s amazing that, with us being all tired and cast in plaster where not tattood, we still managed to get the writing for our next CD going. As usual, this takes off where we previously left, trying not to look back (too much). In political terms, we would now consider ourselves passed the negociation phase. Time to actually start doing something. Like working hard. And rock.

Later on this year we'll also pick up concerting again after the best of a year of non-activity. Doing some gigs because we’ve been missing that, and also as a ‘getting up to speed’ kind-of-thing for recording a new full lenghth CD somewhere around late springtime next year. By the time we do the first show, hopefully we'll have a couple of new things ready to be tried out on stage, as we're all rather curious about that combination. For the exact parameters of time and space, please check out the shows section.

Hell yeah, our drummer is enjoying those great first months as a father and has a whole lot of 'kids stuff' around him with his two bright shining stars! This means we've decided not to start playing shows before June (or maybe even a bit later).
Which doesn't necessary mean we're just sitting on our lazy asses.
Hell no, we're busy trying out some new stuff, experimenting with different moods in our music and so on. We're slowly getting to the status of defining the flow for the new songs. One song has been completed so far and a whole set of ideas are in the pipeline, so who knows what will happen musically the next couple of months... we try to keep you up to date about this, don't worry.

Besides that, some of our members just finished the recordings of a new album with their other band HOMER and Homer is playing all over the place, so check them out if you want to...

That's it for now, stay tuned and take care!

PN

Hello there,
The next couple of months we'll be concentrating on writing some new songs.
Our drummer is becoming a father in december (so quite some exiting days for him to come in the next couple of weeks).
That's why we don't play any concerts for a little while.
In the meantime, we'll be focusing on writing some new songs and some of our bandmembers are recording a new album with their other band Homer.
We'll be back as soon as we have some more news and check here concerning upcoming shows for the spring of 2007!
And hey, check out the PN interview in the newest Aardschok magazine!

Here we are with a fresh update.
We've been playing some cool shows the last couple of weeks. Funtime Festival was great with lots of people and a great atmosphere. Thanx to all of you that were there for making this a special thing for us! Some weeks before funfest, we headed to Swiss to play at La Batie festival in Geneve, alongside our labelmates of The Sedan Vault and Soon. It was a roadtrip and show to remember. It can be so precious to rock out with a good bunch of friends, hell yeah! By the way... to the stupid f*ck that tagged our van that night : may you burn in hell!:)- Luckily enough we managed to clean it in a 'spic and span' kind of way... so there goes you effort.
On the 16th of sep, we played our intimate (semi-acoustic) set for what's bound to be the last time (but who knows what happens in the future) and it was super. A great setting with a fine stage on the market square of our hometown and lots and lots of people... it rocked in a quiet kind of way...
Last saturday we played a special show... since our bassplayer Jimmy is travelling around through Malaysia for a month, Peter (bassplayer of the great punkrockband Sixtoys) is filling in on bass for a couple of shows and 'thumbs up!' cause he did a fabulous job playing the show at the Choke. Which was a great night of postrock/core, so any of you that don't know the bands Green Autumn, Guernica or E-F , surf to their sites and check them out, they're great! Next up is Dizzyrock in Geel (with Peter on bass) with such fine bands like Sparkle of Hope, Awaiting Seasons, Morda and a whole lot more, so come over and party hard!
Talk to you again soon...

Hello to all of you!

Here we are with a fresh update. Last saturday we played the Ieperfest, which was a fine experience once again. This edition, we kept it dry for four songs, which is great compared to our totally washed out set some years ago. Anyway, thanx to all of you that were there for the support and the cool reactions after the show. And yeah, the guys of the Ocean rule! There's a whole set of shows coming up the next couple of weeks. Next up is our appearance at the La Batie festival in Switzerland on the 9th of sep. Together with our labelmates of The Sedan Vault and Soon, we will try to rock Swiss as hard as we possibly can. The week after we are playing a special intimate set in our home village Kortrijk-Dutsel, together with the Killbots and Yevgueni. And hey, it's for free and you can expect some special songs during our set. The week after, we're rocking it at funtime festival in Aarschot, together with great bands like Textures, Easyway, The Sedan Vault, Sixtoys, Sparkle Of Hope and a whole lot more; For more info about funfest, just check out www.funtimerecords.com/funfest.
And then we switch our bass player.... no, just kidding, Mr Jimmy Turbo is heading to Asia for a month of strolling around and who knows what:)- and Peter Mulders - aka that great guy that plays the 4 string in Sixtoys- will replace him for the shows at the Choke and Dizzyrock in Geel. Thanks a lot already to him for helping us out...

To end up, we got a whole lot of raving reviews of our new album in wellknown magazines/webzines like e.g. Oor magazine, Aardschok, Soundslike, Kwadratuur ....you can check those reviews in the press section of our website...

That's it for now...talk to you soon...

We had a fine weekend once again.
On friday the 5th of may we went 'daytripping' to Utrecht to play the fine and cosy Accu club. Not too many people, but a great interaction and lots of other fine bands on the bill like Omission, Antillectual and Latterman to name a few. Thanx to the promotors for the warm welcome, great vegan food and nice hangouts!...Oh yeah, Peter Angry Youth and Cedric...you guys rule (and please check out Findel, they are great!!!)!
The day after, we played Ringrock in Leuven. This small indoorfestival was organised by some highschool kids at their school and they did a great job. When we arrived, Usual Suspects started skankin' the place with their dub infected punkrocktunes. Right after, The Sedan Vault delivered an impressive set once again and then it was our turn to close the party. It already got late, but that didn't matter, since we had a great time with a fine audience (consisting of a lot of old and new friends:)-) By the way, BBQ's rule bigtime!
Next appointment on the 20th of may at Tydeeh in Mol where we will try to rock/mosh the place down, together with such fine bands as ourfatenends and Last Star Down (who are officaly presenting their demo cd)
See you there!!!

Well, here we are with a new update.
Since the official release of our new album, we've been playing shows all over and we'll keep on doing this for the rest of the year. So feel free to check us out when we hit a stage in your neighbourhood. Some new shows have been booked too... you can find them in the show section. Besides that, some new pictures have been put online on both our website and myspace and some extra songs have been ad to the myspace account too. A press section has been put up on the website, where you can find reviews of the new (and former) albums so you can check out what the press thinks about it;)- We're very happy to say that almost all 100 limited copies of the gatefold LP are gone. If you want to grab a hold of one of those last limited copies, get your ass to one of our next shows and ask for it at the merch stall, cause that's about the only place where you can buy them. The regular version of the gatefold LP (also + cd and poster) is of course for sale in most quality music stores and mailorders.
That's it for now... we'll be back soon with more news!

Here we are with a fresh update. We've worked intensively towards the release of our brandnew baby 'through satin veils gropes desire' and the celebration of that birth. Next friday (24th of february) the new album is officialy released and in stores, so check it out and -even better- pick it up.
The cd version is out on Funtime Records (www.funtimerecords.com), our longtime home.
And the beautiful gatefold LP (only 500 copies made) is out on Rearviewmirrorrecords. This lp version also includes the cd and the first 100 copies even include a remix cd with some remixes of PN songs by Kalder (aka Lady Vortex) and Zen For Birds (soundscapes/drone wizards). A whole lot of those first 100 copies are already sold on the release party , so be quick if you want to get a hold of one of those first copies.

Speaking about the first release party last saturday the 18th of february at de Klinker....it was a fabulous evening which will be cherished in our hearts (man, how emo can one sound;)-). More than 350 people turned up and together with the 5 bands that played their heart and guts out, they all made this one hell of an evening. Great atmosphere, super response, we owe you !!!!!!!!!
And don't forget the other upcoming shows, like the release show at Horizont in Meerhout on the 4 th of march and the show with Burst in the AB club on the 5th of march.

Some other news on the promotional side of the spectrum. We just installed a myspace for PN on www.myspace.com/pn666.
Check it out and leave you comments over there. Don't forget you can also find us at www.purevolume.com/pn. Surf by and drop a line!
By the way, if you want to help us out by spreading posters and flyers in your neighbourhood, just send a mail to johan 'at' funtimerecords.com and we'll hook you up with all you need and some extra stuff to top it of!

To end up this newsflash, we want to put some people in the picture. Hanna Maes, Matthias Schoonjans, Dirk Miers, Wannes Vanvoorden, Johan Piron to start with. Five great, fine persons that mean a lot for us as a band and as close friends. And not to be forgotten, all the funtime family people who have been sticking with us for years and are helping out whenever they can. Thanks!!! Mucho gracias to all of you and we couldn't have done this the way we did it without all your help!!!

All recording sessions for 'Through Satin Veils Gropes Desire' have been finished. Once again it has been a very positive experience, for which we have to send thanks to all people involved in the process. Yes, that means you : Dirk (production, mixing), Tom (Rhodes), Wannes (dumdum percussion) and Dries 'Maple Room' M. (backing grunts and shouts) and all of them again, including Mattias S., for the illustrious hand-clapping. Also all people who where so kind as to help us out material-wise - we owe you !
The 8 new songs (plus one retake) will be mixed to detail and then mastered in the next coming weeks; we expect to release the album around februari 2006.
Stay tuned for more news/sighs/sounds
..pn..

In the studio...
A short update to tell you that we are almost heading for the studio to record our new full length album 'through satin veils gropes desire'. From the 2nd of december on, we will be busy recording 9 new songs at www.destudio.be.
Production will be done by Dirk Miers and ourselves and the mastering will be handled by Alan Douches at the westwestside studio (usa). You can expect the new album in stores by the beginning of march. The cd version will be released on Funtime Records and the LP version on Rearviewmirrorrecords. We're very happy with this first full length vinyl release. The lp will be limited to 500 copies, will have a different artwork and will include the cd too.
On the road...
We will do a few cd presentations. More info and dates soon, but as you should know already, the firts and hometown cd release party is planned for the 18th of february at www.jcdeklinker.be in Aarschot (other bands rocking out include Rovic, Yournamehere, Antillectual and Dearly Deported). Check out the show dates below this page for the other already sheduled concerts for 2005... we will be back soon with a studio update. In the meantime : 'take care and see you soon!'

Autumn has tumbled in and so are we with a new update.
We're almost finished with the songwriting for the new PN full album and about ten songs will be recorded at Dé Studio in december.
The new album will -once again- be another step in our musical universe. Combining soft with hard and balancing between groove, aggression and atmosphere, but that's about all we will unleash about it at this very moment. We've tried a few of the new songs live during some of the summershows and we felt good about it. No albumtitle is set at this very moment, but one thing that's for certain is the fact that the mastering will be done by Alan Douches (Thrice, Silverstein...) and we're very happy about that.
We will only play one more show before we enter the studio. One at Tessloo on the 19th of november together with such fine bands like Low Density, Minus 10 Scenepoints and more... and hey, it's for free!!! We also want to thank the crowd at Akkerpop and especially at Den Bogaard in Geel for some fine moshing and dedication!!!
For other live concerts, you'll have to wait untill the new album is released.
The official CD presentation will be held on the 18th of february at JC De Klinker in Aarschot. Other confirmed bands include Dearly Deported (cd presentation), Rovic, Antillectual and Your Name Here... more info follows later on.
That's it for now... we'll be back with more news soon....

Here we are again with a very short newsflash. We're mainly focusing on our brandnew album, cause we want to make this the best one ever made by us. We just booked studio time for the month of december at www.destudio.be, our familiar environment concerning recordings. In the meantime, we've also planned some preproduction days and we're jamming some musical intermezzo's, to be used to fill in the voids inbetween the songs. We'll be playing only a few shows (cause we want to focus on the new record at this time) ...You can check us out at the skatehappening in Tessenderlo, Akkerpop in Hoogstraten and Den Bogaard in Geel. Here are the showdates.

06th of august : Skatehappening, Tessenderlo (with The Maple Room, Rise And Fall...)
27th of august : Akkerpop, Hoogstraten (with Morda etc)
08th of october : Den Bogaard, Geel

That's it for now. Take care and enjoy the summer!
