Over the last three and a half years, the guys from Second Base have seen the Belgian punkrock scene in all of its facets.
Their debut-album, “The Risk To Lose It All” (which will be released on October 31, 2006 through Burned Star Records/distribution by Funtime Records) embodies the anger, rage, desperation and passion the band stands for.
Second Base is part of the new flourishing generation of Hageland punkrock bands – they stand for honest straight-from-the-heart lyrics, aggressive drums, pounding bass lines and searing guitars. The trio (Stijn, Paul, Jeff) put every second they possibly can and every ounce of motivation they have in the band. This shows, as the band is a force to be reckoned with when seen live. The guys might not take themselves too seriously, they do compose and play their music as if the world depends on it.
Over the course of the last three years, Second Base released a self-titled demo (recorded by Bob Demarsin at Bob’s place), a split-cd with labelmates Old Fashion Heroes (produced and recorded by Patrick Delabie at Studio 195 – released through Burned Star Records), and played over one hundred shows all over Belgium. Support slots with bands like Belvedere, Useless I.D., Ignite, Easyway, and No Children were earned the hard way, and various rock-rallies (including the prestigious Maanrockrally – which allowed the band to play Maanrock, a festival with well over 15.000 visitors) were won.
In effect, Second Base gained some name within the Belgian borders, and is ready to start exploring the rest of Europe, too.
“The Risk To Lose It All” - named after a song by fellow punk rockers Sixtoys - is the epitome of three and a half years’ life in the Belgian punkrock scene, put to music in 12 tracks of mayhem. It features guest/backing vocals by Johan (known from PN/Homer), Björn (Five Days Off), and Jonas (Sixtoys, Human Degree), and was produced, mixed and mastered by Patrick Delabie at the renown Studio 195 in Wernhout, Holland. The album will be released by Burned Star Records, and distributed by one of Belgium’s finest alternative labels, Funtime Records.
