Shandon

Biography

« sublime and catchy skapunkrockabilly , one of Italy’s leading punkrockbands »
When Shandon formed in 1994, they started playing punkrock. But since the release of their first demo, a year later, they have been spreading punkabillyskacore, a mix of different styles and influences, blended all into one.
Shortly after this demo was released, Shandon presented their debut album ‘Skamobile’, which was released on the independent label TVOR. In 1998, the band releases a seven inch, called ‘Due gusti due baci’ and the second album ‘Nice try’, produced by Contrasto Records and published by V2.
Even though, the band remains loyal to their style, new rhythms are used and the band starts exeperimenting with all kinds of influences like charleston and Spanish stuff.
In the meantime, Shandon plays as much as they can, supporting bands like Rancid, Pennywise, Offspring, Vandals, Toasters and a whole bunch of others…
Playing live in clubs and on festivals, is the engine for the band, playing more then 200 shows after touring all over Italy. In 1999, Shandon starts playing outside of Italy by doing a tour in Holland with Heideroosjes and playing shows in Germany and Italy. In june of 2000, ‘Fetish’ is released in Italy on V2 records, together with the video for ‘Placebo effect’. 6 months later, 8000 copies are sold of this album and a new video is released. In march of 2001, Shandon headlines the MTV Italy tour and starts a European tour in april. On the 31st of august, Shandon finishes the ‘Fetish’ tour , after having played about 160 shows in support of that album. Then they start working on the new album. ‘Not so happy to be sad’ is the title and this record reveals all the best this band has to offer. Melody, catchy songs and a briljant mix of punkrock, emo, ska and rock’n roll. The band heads for a European tour once again in april of 2002 and is busy playing out in their hoem country. ‘Not so happy to be sad’ is released on V2 in Italy and on Funtime Records for Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and France.
